G'day Spud

Terms of Use

Last updated 23 September 2026

These are the rules for using G'day Spud. Using the app means you accept them. They are written to be read, not to be skipped.

Who you are dealing with

G'day Spud is made and run by Angus Dowling, an individual in Victoria, Australia. There is no company behind it. If that changes, this page will say so and you will be told before it takes effect.

Contact: hello@gdayspud.app.

In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Angus Dowling trading as G'day Spud. "You" means the person using the app.

What G'day Spud does

It plans a week of dinners for your household, prices the shopping against Coles and Woolworths, and hands you a list or fills a trolley. It remembers what your household eats and what it avoids. It can read a photo of a receipt to learn what you actually paid.

It is a planning and budgeting tool. It is not advice, and it is not a professional service.

Not a medical, safety or allergy tool

G'day Spud is not a medical, safety or allergy tool. Household rules are reminders, not authoritative health information.

When you tell the app that someone in your house avoids dairy, or reacts to peanuts, it stores that as a rule and shows it back to you when a recipe touches it. It is repeating what you wrote. It is not deciding what is safe.

The specific things it does not do:

If someone in your household has a food allergy, an intolerance or a medical diet, check the packaging and the ingredients yourself, every time, and take advice from a health professional. Do not rely on this app for that.

Prices are estimates

Every dollar figure the app shows before you shop is an estimate. Estimates come from prices collected from Coles and Woolworths and from your own past receipts.

Prices change, specials end, stores differ, pack sizes vary and pickers substitute. The number on your receipt is the real one. We do not guarantee that an estimate will match it, and we are not the seller of anything in your trolley — Coles and Woolworths are, under their own terms.

Your account

You need an account. You must be at least 16. Give us a real email address, keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if someone else gets into your account.

A household can have more than one member. Anyone in your household can see the household's recipes, plans, pantry, shopping and receipts, and the rules recorded against each member. Only invite people you are happy to share that with.

You can close your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete account. What happens to your data after that is set out in the privacy policy, honestly, including the parts that are not finished.

Subscriptions and payment

Paid subscriptions are not switched on yet. The app is free while it is in testing. When paid plans do start, this is how they will work, and you will be told before anything is charged.

We use a company called RevenueCat to work out what your purchase entitles you to. It is listed in the privacy policy with everything else that receives your data.

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing on this page excludes, restricts or modifies any of them, and nothing on this page should be read as trying to.

Among other things, those guarantees mean services must be supplied with due care and skill, must be fit for any purpose we said they were fit for, and must be supplied within a reasonable time. If we fail to meet a guarantee, you are entitled to the remedies the law gives you — which, depending on how serious the failure is, can include a refund, having the problem fixed, or compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss.

If you think something has gone wrong, email hello@gdayspud.app first. If that does not sort it out, you can go to Consumer Affairs Victoria, the ACCC or the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. There is no arbitration clause here and no requirement to give up a low-cost forum.

Your content stays yours

Recipes you write or import, photos you upload, receipts, notes, household rules and plans are yours. We do not claim to own them.

To actually run the app we need your permission to handle them. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, back up, copy, display and process your content, and to send parts of it to the service providers listed in the privacy policy — only so far as is needed to provide the service to you and your household. Content shared into a household can be seen by that household. The licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies sitting in backups until they age out.

We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train AI models. Some of it is sent to AI services run by other companies to do specific jobs — reading a receipt, pulling a recipe out of a web page. The privacy policy names each one and says what it gets. What those companies may do with what they receive is governed by our agreements with them, and we have not yet confirmed zero-retention terms in writing with all of them. Until we have, the privacy policy is the honest limit of what we can promise.

What you agree not to do

The app will change, and it can break

This is a new product built by one person. Features will change or be removed. There will be outages. Coles and Woolworths can change their sites and break the pricing without warning. We do not promise the service will be available at any particular time, or that any particular feature will keep existing.

That is a statement about how the product works, not an attempt to escape the consumer guarantees above.

Ending it

You can stop using G'day Spud and delete your account at any time, in the app, for any reason.

We can end or suspend your access with 14 days' notice by email. We can do it immediately and without notice if you break these terms, if your use puts other people or the service at risk, or if the law requires it. If we end your access for our own convenience and you have paid for a period you have not used, ask Apple for a refund and we will support the request.

Liability

This section applies only so far as the law allows, and it is read subject to the consumer guarantees above. Nothing in it limits liability that cannot be limited.

Where the law permits a limit, our total liability to you for any claim connected with the service is limited to the greater of one hundred Australian dollars and the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable — for example, the cost of a shop that came to more than the estimate, or a meal you did not want to eat.

For anything to do with allergies, intolerances or a medical diet, read the safety section again. Those decisions are yours, made with the packaging in front of you.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria. If you are a consumer, this does not take away any right you have to bring a matter in the place where you live.

The app is built and sold for Australia. We do not offer it anywhere else.

Changes to these terms

We will update this page when the product changes. The date at the top always tells you when it last moved. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Carrying on using the app after that means you accept it.
